STUDENT POSTER COMPETITION

At EN2022 we successfully ran our inaugural Student Poster Competition, where postgraduate university research students were invited by Energy Networks Australia to enter a competition that aimed to encourage and support research and innovation within the Australian energy sector.

Students submitted research abstracts on a range of topics. Of the twenty-nine abstracts that were submitted, six finalists were assessed and selected by an independent judging panel.

The winners were announced at the Poster Series & Happy Hour Reception, held in the Exhibition Hall at EN2022 on Thursday 17 March 2022.

Naomi Stringer from University of New South Wales won the Women in Engineering Award for her research on ‘DER integration in the balance: a data driven future?’

The overall winner of the student poster competition was Dillon Jaglal of the University of Melbourne for his research on ‘Unlocking Frequency Response Potential from Residential Batteries using Active Droops’.

Due to the success of the EN2022 Student Poster Competition, we will once again be running the competition at EN2024.

THE COMPETITION

There will be two Student Poster Competition awards for EN2024 – ‘Best Poster’ and ‘Upcoming Women in Networks.’

Six finalists will be chosen to attend and present their posters during the poster session at EN2024. All Finalists will receive complimentary student registration plus reimbursement of up to $700 towards their flights and accommodation.

The two winners will be announced at EN2024 and will each be awarded $1,000 towards their research fund, as well as complimentary registration at EN2026 and offered mentorship opportunities.
